Census weekend is almost upon us. It is a legal requirement that we all fill in the Census.  Need help? Look no further:
  1. Although this is being promoted as a digital first census, it’s not digital only. Therefore, people can call 0800 876 6276 if they would like a paper form.
  2. You can complete your census at any point: early, on 21 March, or late. Completing it late will not get you into trouble. Just ensure that the information you provide is relevant to the night of 21 March.
  3. If you receive the digital access code and are happy to use it, you will need to visit census.gov.uk and click on the green “start census” box.

Census Support Centres are now up and running – these you can call to book an appointment and they will walk you/talk you through the census in person, alternatively they will offer support over the phone. There are two in Sandwell: Ileys Community Centre (0121 448 3940) and Sandwell Deaf Community Association (0121 553 0201 – SDCA is principally for BSL users as it is only 1 of 3 around the country supporting that language) and a third is under discussion. However, there are others in surrounding areas which may be closer. Visit https://census.gov.uk/en/find-a-support-centre/ for more information (the site asks for your postcode and then tells you the nearest location – make sure you click on the link to check opening times).

Completion events are virtual drop-in sessions that people are able to attend if they have questions or want to be walked through the questionnaire. The first three are being held by me, the others are being organised by colleagues.
